The area of Albany is also known as Kinjarling which means “place of rain”, a name given to the area by Menang Aborigines of the larger Noongar group, prior to European settlement.

The bridge is a unique geological formation that is located just outside the city. As for arts, Albany is home to a unique and thriving cultural scene. Albany has theatres, performance venues, festivals, museums, and galleries.

As for religion, the most common religions followed in Albany are Anglican and Catholic while there is also a Mosque just 15 minutes away from Albany city centre. While these religions are common in Albany and the area, there are many other cultures and religions in the city and region.
Not only is Albany a great place to live but also has plenty of options when it comes to education. This includes the early childhood care. Albany currently has several primary schools. It also has eight high schools, a TAFE, and a campus of the The University of Western Australia (UWA).
While nowhere in the world has ‘perfect weather’, Albany is certainly a contender for the title. The city enjoys a warm summer, wet winters, and extremely enjoyable springs and autumns. Even on the very hot summer days when the temperature reaches the low 40c, the residents of the town still get to enjoy a cool breeze. December to February are the hottest months while the coldest are June to August.
While there are several hospitals in the area, Albany has one main hospital – Albany Health Campus. The hospital has the capacity to service up to 60,000 people a year and offers a large variety of services. More information about the hospital can be found here
