The History

While today Busselton is famous for features such as the longest timber piled jetty in the Southern Hemisphere, the city was one of the earliest settlements in Western Australia when established in 1832. It was settled by the Bussell family who after settlement established one of the most well-known cattle stations in the location, a large reason many settlers were attracted to the area.

Fast forward some years, Busselton established itself as a leading port and a destination for whaling ships, the majority coming from the US, France, and England.

With a growing community, the first school in Busselton was established in 1848 and since then, the developing city, never really stopped.
